As soon as the final buzzer sounded, marking the end of the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s season, the buzz about Kevin Durant‘s impending free agency heightened. With no games left to play, it was a primary topic on the minds of the media and the fans.
Not surprisingly, KD's mind was still on the game. After taking a 3-1 series lead over the heavily favored Golden State Warriors, OKC suffered three tough defeats in a row to drop the series. Durant had put everything he had into the Thunder's cause, and it hadn't been enough.
Free agency? That was the last thing Durant was thinking about at a time like this.
From Durant's postgame interview, via NBA TV:
“We just lost like 30 minutes ago. I haven't even thought about it. I'm just embracing my teammates and reflecting on this season. I'll think about that stuff – I don't know when – but we just lost an hour ago, 30 minutes ago, so I don't know.”

As he noted, there will be a time and a place for this discussion later. For now, any reports on Durant's intentions are either based on past comments, or they're pure speculation.
ESPN's Marc Stein stated, as he has before, that the most likely scenario is that Durant signs a two-year maximum contract with the Thunder, with a player option in the second year. That doesn't mean other teams won't be in hot pursuit, of course.
Wizards, Heat, Celtics, Rockets, Knicks, Lakers, Spurs and, yes, Warriors … all expected to pursue Kevin Durant in free agency this summer

It's hard to imagine Durant leaving the Thunder on the heels of this incredible playoff run. Few pundits gave them a chance against the Spurs, and even fewer thought they could hang with the Warriors, let alone come just a step short of knocking them out.
The rumor mill will be running hot, but in the short-term, Durant's going to reflect on everything he and his teammates accomplished this spring.
Kevin Durant: We weren't supposed to be in this position. We faced two great teams. We showed we could play different ways.
