The Sacramento Kings suffered a heavy defeat on Tuesday, falling to the Los Angeles Clippers, 105-87. It wasn't a pretty performance for the Kings, and after the game, third-year guard De'Aaron Fox admitted that some major improvements need to take place, starting with the pace at which they play at.

“We want to pick our pace up,” Fox said, via Kings insider Jason Jones. “We’ve talked about it. We’ve practiced doing those types of things. We just have to translate it. (Walton) wants us to pick the pace up. We just have to be able to do that.”

De'Aaron Fox played through some back spasms in this one and ended up finishing with just nine points on 3-of-10 shooting, along with one 3-pointer, four rebounds, six assists, and a couple of steals in 32 minutes of play.

A string of injuries has prevented the 22-year-old from living up to the hype surrounding him prior to the start of the season, with Fox currently producing at a slightly lower rate compared to his sophomore year last term. Right now, the former fifth overall pick is putting up 17.1 points (on 46.4 percent shooting), 3.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.1 steals, while also connecting on 1.0 3-pointers per game on a 32.0-percent clip. Those are not terrible numbers by a long stretch, but he's also been unable to elevate his level of play this season as many had originally expected.

Fox has been known to operate more effectively in a high-pace system, so we certainly see where he is coming from here. As he stated above, however, the team have not been able to speed things up to is liking just yet, so perhaps we should be able to see better performances from the 6-foot-3 guard if and when the Kings are able to pick the pace up.
