Reports are trickling out that New York Knicks veteran Alec Burks had undergone foot surgery – injury news that wasn't as widespread when it reportedly occurred.

The news was reported by Knicks reporter for The Athletic Fred Katz and corroborated by New York Daily News‘ Stefan Bondy. Burks had received the procedure just days after the conclusion of the NBA Finals, which ended on June 16th.

While the injury doesn't sound too serious, with a projected return in time for training camp, it may factor into the interest of other teams should the Knicks need to dump his contract in a bid for bigger names in free agency like Jalen Brunson and Kyrie Irving.

But given that he won't have to miss much time on the court, if at all, it likely won't hinder teams from taking a flier on Alec Burks should the Knicks offer him up to the highest bidder. Burks is owed a shade over $10 million next season and has a team option on his deal for approximately the same value for the 2023-24 season.

The 11-year NBA veteran has turned himself into a reliable secondary scorer, averaging 12.1 points and 40.8 percent shooting from distance in two seasons with the Knicks.
