The New York Knicks are one of the teams highly interested in acquiring the services of Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard if he asks for a trade. The Knicks were also tied to rumors linking Kevin Durant before he eventually chose the crosstown rival Brooklyn Nets.

While Lillard and Durant aren't in Knicks uniforms, they still have been helping the franchise. Knicks sophomore Obi Toppin continues to show his potential for the Knicks with yet another solid performance in the NBA Summer League. He and Immanuel Quickley combined for 54 points to lead the squad past the Indiana Pacers on Monday. Toppin credited his teammates and coaches for his strong play so far.

Via the New York Post:

“I feel I’ve done pretty good. Guys are just finding me in certain positions. I would like to shoot the three a little better. Every day is not going to be perfect. I put in a lot of work this summer. I’ve had a lot of guys helping me out–coaches, players, watching film.’’

But the high-flying Toppin also credited other guys outside the Knicks, especially Lillard and the rest of Team USA. Toppin, as a member of the US Select Team that scrimmaged with Team USA before the Tokyo Olympics, said he picked up a lot from the experience:

“It was great having an opportunity to come to Vegas and playing against the best players in the world–Dame Lillard, all those guys. To work with them and pick up little things, they were talking to me about, it helped me tremendously.’’

Don't sleep on Obi Toppin in the next season with the recharged Knicks.
