After a feel-good campaign last season, the New York Knicks are struggling to get it going this time around. While it's still early, to some, it feels like they're back to their old nature of self-combusting.

Knicks star Julius Randle didn't hold back on their tough situation after dropping their third straight game last Saturday, losing to the visiting Denver Nuggets. Randle implied they're still looking for their identity this season, especially on the defensive end (via ESPN).

“I just think we gotta understand that in order to win games we gotta play really hard, extremely hard. We gotta have game plan discipline, and we gotta win games on defense. If our offense is great, great. That's just a bonus. But who we are as a team, how we built this team and this culture is just fighting defensively, the togetherness, just the effort, the hustle plays. I feel like that's what the city of New York loves. That's what the fans love, when they know we're out there giving it our all.”

The Knicks are 11-12 on the season, while allowing 107.3 points per game, which is in the bottom half of the league.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has always rhapsodized about defense, but their lack of offensive prowess got exposed in the last NBA Playoffs. So finding the right balance is imperative as well.

The Knicks can snap their skid against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.
