Bill Walton is a huge Julius Randle fan. So much so, that the Hall of Famer came out with a perfect analogy to compare Randle to a legend of the New York Knicks franchise.

In Walton's mind, he believes that Randle is the second coming of the great Willis Reed:

“Ive known Julius since he was in college and I got to broadcast some of his games,” Walton said in a recent interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “… He played on the Lakers when our son was coaching there and he's just a fantastic dude. And to see the development of a Julius Randle, I mean this guys he has become just an absolute stud. A stud in the game of life. This guy is fierce, tough, tenacious, competitive as can be, skilled, majestic.”

“Eddie I know you're not old enough to have seen a young Willis Reed,” Walton said, speaking to the show's host, Eddie Johnson. “Willis is one of the greatest players ever. MVP of the NBA. MVP of the Finals. All-time NBA team. That was the size and the strength and the skill that a young Willis Reed had before the injuries took just a devastating toll there.”

Reed played his entire NBA career with the Knicks, between 1964 and 1974. Unfortunately, he suffered a brutal knee injury at the age of 32 which literally put an end to his career. While we all hope that Randle does not suffer the same fate, we have to agree with Bill Walton here in his assessment.

Like what Randle is doing right now, Reed dominated the NBA during his decorated stint with the Knicks. He pretty much won everything there is to win in the NBA, except of course for the coveted NBA title. Randle still has a lot of basketball ahead of him and he's still quite a ways away from all of Reed's achievements, but at this point, we have to say that the comparison is warranted.
