With less than two weeks to go before the start of the regular season, the New York Knicks’ injury woes are slowly piling up. Already playing without Frank Ntilikina, Ron Baker, Milton Doyle, and Jacob Wiley during Sunday’s preseason game against their cross town rivals, the Brooklyn Nets, the team also missed the services of Kristaps Porzingis for the entire second half due to a sore hip, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

“The Knicks fell to 0-3 in the preseason with two games left, and lost star forward Kristaps Porzingis with a sore right hip. He had six points on 2-of-6 shooting and finished a minus-20, checking out with 20 seconds left in the first half and never returning.”

However, the 7-foot-3 big man said he is not too worried about his health, and also confirmed to ESPN’s Ian Begley that he will seek advice from Knicks doctors, who will look at his hip on Monday.

Now with Carmelo Anthony playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kristaps Porzingis is expected to be the face of the Knicks moving forward, and that the team's new front office will finally start building around him. The Latvian unicorn has had two solid seasons in the NBA so far, and is coming off a very impressive showing in the EuroBasket competition this summer. Porzingis is hoping that he can continue the impressive start he’s had in his career, and even play at a higher level this coming season.

Should the hip injury not reveal any structural damage, Kristaps Porzingis should be ready to play for the Knicks once the regular season gets underway. That said, the Knicks may also opt to sit him out in their final preseason game to provide him with additional rest and avoid risking him getting hurt further, as they understand his importance to the team this campaign.
