For the last several months, there has been much said about Kristaps Porzingis‘ standing with the New York Knicks.

This has ranged from rifts with management to being dangled in various trade rumors this NBA offseason. However, the Porzingis has continued to double down on his stance that he is happy to be a Knick, according to ESPN.

“So far it's been tough in New York, but my journey is only beginning and I hope to stay there my whole career, so as a city we can have some fun and win some games and do something big,” Porzingis said in an interview with NBA.com from South Africa, where he will participate in the NBA Africa Game.

“For me, it's now home.”

Things have appeared to drastically improved in the relationship between both sides that looks to have stemmed from former team president Phil Jackson being let go. It was clear there were some rocky moments between Jackson and Porzingis that all began from the former first-round pick's decision to skip out on the exit meeting back in April.

Although the Knicks are attempting to move on from his mentor Carmelo Anthony, he has remained fixated on being a major part of the puzzle for the Knicks moving forward. Regardless of whether New York is able to move on from Anthony this summer, Porzingis is expected to take on a much greater offensive role to potentially become the next face of the franchise.

In essence, the Knicks could already have the rising star player to help bring the team back to prominence in the league.
