As the New York Knicks look to shop their veteran players ahead of the trade deadline, they may receive calls on their young players. Mitchell Robinson, their defensive stalwart, may be among the more coveted New York youngsters.

Robinson is averaging 8.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while shooting 78.3 percent from the field. His ability to catch lobs and defend makes him a huge piece for New York. However, is an unrestricted free agent after this season. The possibility of trading him before he potentially walks away could entice the Knicks to trade. him.

SNY's Ian Begley reported that the Detroit Pistons, among other teams, are interested in Robinson. It remains to be seen, though, if they will trade for the Knicks' big man ahead of the deadline.

The Detroit Pistons are among the teams who’ve had a degree of interest in the 23-year-old, per SNY sources. Robinson would fit the team’s desire to find players on the same timeline as rookie Cade Cunningham. It’s unknown if Detroit would pursue Robinson via trade or if the club would only consider him if/when he hits free agency.

But Robinson has fans in the Pistons organization.

The Pistons' interest in Robinson may suggest that they don't have much faith in Isaiah Stewart or that they see him as a power forward. Regardless, he would be a great fit alongside a pick-and-roll maestro like Cade Cunningham.

The issue for New York is that Robinson is their only reliable center. Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson would be the worst one-two center punch if they were the team's only true centers. The Knicks would need to find a suitable replacement if they deal Robinson away.
