New York Knicks rookie RJ Barrett has signed a multi-year shoe deal with Puma, according to a report from ESPN's Nick DePaula.

Although Puma has confirmed this new deal with Barrett, the finer details of the contract were not released. He joins a stable of NBA athletes to have signed with the popular sportswear manufacturer, including his teammate, Kevin Knox. Other players under the Puma umbrella include DeMarcus Cousins, Danny Green and Deandre Ayton.

The Knicks selected Barrett with the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. By most accounts, the Toronto native will be a fine addition to the team's roster, and he'll be looking to make a name for himself in the pros.

Barrett played his collegiate ball at Duke, alongside Cam Reddish and No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson. For his outstanding play with the Blue Devils, Barrett was recognized as a First-Team All-American as a freshman.

In 38 appearances with the Blue Devils (all starts), Barrett racked up averages of 22.6 points on 45.4 percent shooting from the field (52.9 percent from beyond the arc), 7.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and just under one steal (0.9) in 35.3 minutes per outing.

The Knickerbockers finished the 2018-19 regular season with a disappointing 17-65 overall record, which was the worst mark in the Eastern Conference. Hopefully, with an offseason of work and an influx of young talent, New York will find its way back into the postseason hunt.
