Madison Square Garden released a statement following New York Knicks owner James Dolan winning the verdict over plaintiff Charles Oakley, hoping there could be peace between the Knicks great and the franchise.

Oakley sued Dolan for a 2017 incident in which he was ejected from his seat during a home game at MSG. Judge Richard Sullivan, who ruled in Dolan's favor considering he owns the property and reserves the right to remove him from it, noted this seemed to be “a public relations campaign, with the parties seemingly more interested in the court of public opinion.”

MSG followed that with a statement from its CEO and Knicks owner James Dolan:

Via SNY's Ian Begley:

“We thank the court for its ruling. This was an incident that no one was happy about. Maybe now there can be peace between us.”

Oakley was quick to seek compensation from Dolan after he felt wrongfully removed from his paid seat, something he made abundantly clear in consequent interviews following the fracas.

The Knicks iconic big man and Dolan had not seen eye to eye as long as he's owned the team, and this was a situation which quickly turned the fans in Oakley's favor, given their disgruntled feelings for the owner.

Oakley's attorney, Doug Wigdor, noted this won't be the last time Oakley will fight Dolan for this.

“Charles is not one to give up,” said Wigdor, according to Stephen Rex Brown of The New York Daily News. “While we are disappointed with the ruling, it’s just the beginning of the fourth quarter and we are confident that we can turn this around with an appeal that we plan to file in the coming days.”
