The New York Knicks could lose promising big man Mitchell Robinson this summer if he hits free agency. The 24-year-old has yet to secure a new deal with the Knicks and right now, the Detroit Pistons appear to be circling in on the 7-foot center.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Knicks' rim protector has popped up on the Pistons' radar. The same can be said of Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton, who himself could also become a free agent this summer (h/t NBA Retweet on Twitter):

Mitchell played 72 games for the Knicks this past season, which is the most appearances he's made throughout his four-year career. The former Western Kentucky standout was relatively injury-free in 2021-22, and he was an important player for New York all season long. Mitchell finished his season with averages of 8.5 points on a career-best 76.1 percent shooting, 8.6 rebounds (also a career-high mark), and 1.8 blocks in 25.7 minutes per contest.

Ayton, on the other hand, has established himself as one of the top big men in the NBA, although he did not exactly have a dream season with the Suns this past year.

As for the Pistons, it is clear that they are looking for a significant upgrade in their frontcourt as they continue to build around their highly-touted young star in Cade Cunningham.
