Marcus Morris vowed to bring the hard-nosed, “old-school” mindset to the New York Knicks. In Monday's preseason game against the Washington Wizards, he did exactly that.

Unfortunately, he might have been too hard and aggressive.

Morris was ejected at the start of the second half for a rather unnecessary offensive foul. He swung his elbow right at the face of Wizards swingman Justin Anderson before literally hitting him with the ball. To make matters worse, he tried to start a fight by approaching Anderson, who clapped after the whistle.

Morris finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists, although he played in only 19 minutes before he was sent off prematurely to hit the showers. He could face a one-game suspension, however, as he was assessed with a Flagrant 2 foul.

Per the NBA guidelines, players can receive a one-game suspension for Flagrant 2 fouls if their actions were deemed to be made with intent.

Luckily for Morris, the Knicks held on to their 15-point first-half lead and edged out the Wizards, 104-99. For his part, Anderson contributed only nine points, three board and one assist in 20 minutes of action for Washington.

The Knicks will play the Wizards again on Friday, this time at Madison Square Garden.
