Looks like the Star Wars KOTOR Remake is in good hands, as The Embracer Group just announced that Saber Interactive is working with Aspyr on the development of the game.

The Embracer Group, which owns both Saber Interactive and Aspyr, revealed during its Q4 Financial Report that Saber Interactive will be moving from their development of Evil Dead to helping out Aspyr in the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake.

“Aspyr has gone full in to make this the best game that they can make,” says The Embracer Group Board Member and Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch. “When we acquired Aspyr, we knew from the start that they would require our assistance.”

Saber has proven itself to be a very capable studio, most recently completing the horror survival game Evil Dead. Apart from this support effort to the KOTOR Remake, Saber Interactive will also be working on the upcoming World War Z: Aftermath, which is a next-gen upgrade of the World War Z game, set to release later this year. There are also three more titles in Saber's pipeline: a Nintendo Switch port of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, an unannounced Painkiller game, and the long-awaited Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2.

Star Wars: Knights of the Republic Remake does not yet have a release date. It was revealed officially last year during the Sony PlayStation Showcase. The teaser didn't reveal much about the game, but Aspyr says that the project goes beyond just simple remastering. The game will release as a timed console exclusive for the PlayStation 5, whenever that would be released.

The original KOTOR came out way back in 2003, where the tale of Darth Revan began, set over 4,000 years before the events of the original Star Wars prequel films. The game was both successful and popular that it spawned a sequel just a year later.
