Over his first two seasons in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. has showed steady improvement in his game. He has received credit for his continuous development, and now even Magic Johnson has taken notice.

The Lakers president of basketball operations admitted, in a recent appearance on ESPN's First Take, that they have received calls inquiring about the 24-year-old Wyoming product, as well as Brandon Ingram, but they have all declined the offers. He also called Nance their “secret weapon,” and spoke highly about his skills.

The 6-foot-9 forward is coming off a solid sophomore campaign, where he averaged 7.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals in only 22.9 minutes per game. He has provided the Lakers with quality minutes off the bench due to his athleticism and defense.

If he can once again have a solid season for the revamped Lakers roster, he will be able to set himself up for a possible contract extension as soon as next year. At this point, it’s almost a certainty that his team will pick up their option on him, but it won’t be surprising as well if Magic Johnson and company will quickly make a move to retain his services for the future.
