After an absolute defensive battle that saw the Los Angeles Lakers edge out the New York Knicks 101-99 on Tuesday, Anthony Davis and LeBon James decided to go into troll mode at Staples Center.

The game between the Lakers and Knicks was a throwback as both teams buckled up on the defensive side making life miserable for the opposing offense. The physicality reminded many of the NBA of old as both teams are trying to improve their playoff seeding in the final week of the season.

After the win, James and Davis had some fun at the expense of Spike Lee.

Spike Lee was courtside for the game in his usual Knicks attire, and Davis and James made sure he didn't leave Staples Center without knowing who in fact came out on top.

Davis logged 43 minutes in the win for the Lakers, scoring 20 points while hauling in six rebounds. The victory put LA just one game back of both the Blazers and Mavericks as the Lakers try to crawl out of the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference in hopes of avoiding the play-in tournament.

The win marked back-to-back wins for the Lakers as they were coming off an impressive win against the Suns.

With LeBron expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Rockets, LA could be hitting its stride at a near perfect time entering the postseason.

For the Knicks, the loss dropped them into a three-way tie for fourth in the Eastern Conference. Because of tiebreaker scenarios, New York draws the short stick in the tiebreaker with the Heat and Hawks, placing them in sixth place as of now in the Eastern Conference.

Both teams will have an opportunity over the remainder of the week to solidify their seeding in their respective conference, and the win last night for the Lakers was one that felt extra special. They just had to let Spike Lee know about it afterwards.
