Los Angeles Lakers fans held their breath after Anthony Davis fell on his back in the third quarter of the Lakers game against the New York Knicks. Davis laid on the floor after colliding with Knicks rookie RJ Barrett before eventually walking out through the tunnel to the locker room.

Per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Davis was escorted out of Staples Center laying on the bed of a motor carrier. Davis would tell Yahoo Sports that he was “fine” but also acknowledged that he would likely have to miss a few games.

Before this injury, Anthony Davis had missed just two of the Lakers 37 games so far this season which is unusual given the superstar forward's propensity to miss games to minor injuries. Regardless, Davis has been a superstar acquisition for the Lakers who traded for the disgruntled superstar in June.

Paired up with LeBron James, the duo has made the Lakers one of the best teams in the NBA. Through 37 games, the Lakers sit atop the Western Conference with a 30-7 record.

As far as the Lakers game on Tuesday is concerned, Los Angeles was able to easily handle the struggling Knicks with a score of 117-87. Before exiting the game, Davis had accrued five points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks in 28 minutes of play.

If Davis does end up missing the next few games for the Lakers, the team will have to do without their star big man against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday and possibly the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 13.
