Los Angeles Lakers veteran Carmelo Anthony probably had a very different idea for how his 19th NBA season would go. With LA's season in the toilet, it's a fair question to wonder what the future holds for Melo coming into next season.

Will he return to the Lakers? Probably not. But it sounds like he's far from finished after sending out a thoughtful message on what he wants to do with his last year or two in the NBA.

Via Dave McMenamin:

“I'm blessed. I'm still able to do this 19 years in and still able to enjoy it and still get motivated by it and love to go to work and love being around the guys. So a lot of times I'll take that over a championship, if I could, because that's my happiness. If I gotta be unhappy to try to go fight and win a championship, I don't want that. I don't want that unhappiness,” said the Lakers star.

Carmelo Anthony has seemingly made peace with never winning a ring. This season with the Lakers looked like a good chance for him to get there, but it ultimately didn't work out.

Now, Melo just wants to enjoy the game he loves with the company of his peers while he still has the chance.
