Carmelo Anthony has pretty much done it all in what has been a decorated 18-year career in the league. After recently agreeing to join the Los Angeles Lakers to team up with long-time friend LeBron James, Melo came to an admission about the one thing he never thought would happen in his time in the NBA.

In a recent interview on Spectrum Sportsnet, Anthony spoke about what it means to him to be a Laker. He also revealed that he never imagined he would be dawning LA's colors at any point in his career:

“I try to think about it, I try to process it, I know what it means to wear purple and gold just from the history of the game and just following and competing against it and really understanding the true essence of what it means to be a Laker,” Anthony said, via Garrett Lee of FanNation. “… But never have I thought that I would be wearing purple and gold. Especially at this point in time of my career, but hey, everything happens for a reason, and I believe that.”

Melo spent the first eight years of his career with the Denver Nuggets. He then made the big move to the New York Knicks — one of the Lakers' rivals out East. The 10-time All-Star then bounced around the league over the past four years, but as destiny would have it, Anthony ended up with the Lakers after quite a journey.

It is clear that Melo relishes this opportunity to represent one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. He will also look to repay LA's trust in him by doing everything he can to help the squad reach their ultimate objective this season: the NBA title.
