The Los Angeles Lakers lost in disappointing fashion against their crosstown rival Clippers on Friday night. With the game on the line and LeBron James double-teamed in the closing seconds, Carmelo Anthony took the go-ahead shot that was well short of the rim.

The Lakers veteran spoke out on the miss after the game:
“It was just a matter of getting a good look. I shot it short. I missed it,” said Melo. “I’ll take that same shot any night. It was just that moment where my legs just weren’t underneath me for that particular shot.”
It’s hard to pin too much blame on Carmelo Anthony for the missed shot. He led the Lakers in scoring off the bench with 18 points on a solid 7-for-14 shooting on the night. He also just made two triples in the final five minutes, both of which put them up five on two separate points during crunch time.
The loss was extra infuriating given that the purple and gold seemed to have control at various points in the waning moments of the game. The Clippers just kept answering back while the Lakers never managed to land the final haymaker they needed to put their opponent away for good.
