After being traded to the Cavaliers in the off-season, Isaiah Thomas failed to perform up to the Cavaliers' standards. When the February 8 trade deadline came up, the Cavaliers traded Thomas and Channing Frye to the Los Angeles Lakers. After having an incredible season last year, in which Thomas finished fifth in MVP voting, the 5'9 point guard has had a slow start to his season. Thomas is only averaging 14.7 points and 4.5 assists, while shooting 36 percent from the field and 25 percent from deep.

Now that he is going to receive a fresh start with the Lakers, many are wondering if Thomas will dominate like he did last season. It appears that Channing Frye thinks Thomas is bound to go off, per Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

Channing Frye on Isaiah Thomas: “There’s nothing with him. You’re gonna see. He’s gonna ball. How many games do we have left? 26? 27? You’re gonna see Isaiah start to become the old Isaiah especially with a faster pace.”

Thomas only played 15 games for the Cavaliers, making his season debut in January. Granted, Thomas' hasn't yet had the time to adjust back to the NBA after missing several months with a hip injury. For the Cavaliers, this was an obvious sight. Thomas often struggled to mesh with the Cavaliers, and it appeared that it was Thomas' time to leave.

Now, Thomas has a unique opportunity to thrive on his new team. Hopefully, the 29-year-old point guard can rehabilitate his career with the Lakers and mentor Lonzo Ball from the bench.
