When the Los Angeles Lakers signed center DeMarcus Cousins this offseason, they reunited the big man with his former New Orleans Pelicans teammate Anthony Davis.
Cousins was delighted with the pairing and claimed one of the reasons he enjoys playing with Davis is that they mutually boost each others' game.
Cousins on playing with AD: “I think we’re a pretty tough big man duo. That’s part of the reason we wanted to become teammates again: we realized how much we made each other better.”

In fact, Cousins insisted that Davis was the reason why he ended up signing with the Lakers.
DeMarcus Cousin on Anthony Davis: "Me and AD have talked numerous times about teammates again. We never wanted it to end, but everything kind of happens for a reason. That being said, the opportunity presented itself and I chose to make it happen." #Lakers

Last time the two big men teamed up, Cousins put up dominant numbers. In his second year in New Orleans, he averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks. His rebound, assist and steal figures all marked career highs.

Unfortunately for the Pelicans, the dominant numbers out of their big men were not enough to go far in the playoffs. They finished with a record of 48-34 in Cousin's last season, but the four-time All-Star sustained an Achilles injury that robbed him of participating in what would have been his first playoff series. The Pelicans swept the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round but were then knocked out by the eventual champion Golden State Warriors.
Now Cousins and Davis get another chance at winning a championship together. This time around, their team owns one of the most intimidating frontcourts in the league. In addition to Cousins and Davis, the Lakers could use LeBron James at the small forward position, forming an elite trio.
With these three superstars, the Lakers believe the sky is the limit. Their big man duo will look to lead them to their first playoff appearance in six years and potentially bring a championship trophy back to Los Angeles.
