The Los Angeles Lakers made some pretty huge additions this offseason to surround LeBron James with a new championship core. Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard highlight a formidable set of weapons for next season.

But while the Lakers added more high-end talented, it's their shooting that remains their biggest question mark. They brought in some trusted veterans in Trevor Ariza and Wayne Ellington to supplement that. But Ariza is already 36 years old, and Ellington will be 34 by the time the season gets underway.

LA definitely needs some younger options from the perimeter. Enter former Lakers second-round pick Svi Mykhailiuk. Cleveland Cavaliers insider Chris Fedor reported on some of the possibilities for the Cavs, which included Mykhailiuk. But he drops an interesting tidbit as to why the Cavs might strike out on the sharpshooter.

Garrison Matthews, Denzel Valentine and Svi Mykhailiuk are free agency options. Mykhailiuk, sources say, may join the Los Angeles Lakers on a minimum deal.

Svi Mykhailiuk has had an up-and-down career thus far. The Kansas Jayhawk came into the league as a deadeye shooter, but struggled out of the gate with the Lakers, shooting a shade under 32% from distance in Year 1. He had a strong first full season with the Detroit Pistons in Year 2, shooting above 40% from three, but then came back down to earth last year for a below-average 33.4%.

One aspect of note was that in his two down years, he was traded midseason, which could have played a role in never being able to find his footing. Perhaps a complete training camp and a clear directive to space the floor could be just what Svi Mykhailiuk needs?

The Lakers haven't made an official move on him yet, but we'll find out soon enough what they plan to do with their final roster spots.
