Family played bigger role in LeBron James’ decision
LeBron James made it clear at the end of the season that his family was going to be a big factor when he sat down and decided where he wanted to play basketball for the next few years. The Los Angeles Lakers won the sweepstakes and according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN in an interview with the Huffington Post, James’ family and his sons had a huge role in picking the new team.
“One of the things I found out pretty quickly here was that the family was going to have a much bigger role in this decision than the other two. The first time he moved he did have two sons, but he wasn’t married and they were very young and he was pretty young. The second time they moved, I do think his wife wanted to come home. But again, his sons were young. In this move, I think his sons had a voice and the sons have lived in LA the last two summers.”
It’s interesting that as James has gotten older the decision isn’t just a basketball decision. When James left to go to the Miami Heat it was to win a championship, and when he came back to Cleveland it was to win a title for “The Land.”
Now it’s about the family. LeBron James Jr. is going to be playing varsity basketball next year, and in the years to come, he will have to make a college decision. It makes sense to keep him in the same high school as he tries to follow in his father’s footsteps.
