The 2021-2022 Los Angeles Lakers season has finally come to a close. It was a very tumultuous season for the Lakers that began with such promise and expectation. One player in particular that had a very tough year was point guard Russell Westbrook. He essentially took the brunt of the criticism for the Lakers' massive disappointment this season. Whether or not all of the blame is justified is certainly debatable. But this fan certainly let his thoughts be known.

The fan is seen in a video he posted on TikTok with a Westbrook jersey laid down flat. He pulls out his lighter and looked as though he was going to light the Lakers' point guard's jersey on fire. He then pulled the lighter away, and dropped a piece of paper on his jersey that read: “You did your best. This team failed you.”

It's hard to argue that Westbrook did not deserve at least some of the blame for the Lakers' failures. But it would be short-sighted to not see the other parties involved.

Lakers superstar LeBron James reportedly requested Los Angeles trade for Westbrook instead of DeMar DeRozan. Lakers GM Rob Pelinka acknowledged in his exit interview that they took James' input in personnel decisions. The writing had already been on the wall. Westbrook is a ball-first point guard that is careless with the basketball. Anyone shocked that he did not fit an offense with James on it has not been paying attention.

Plus, Anthony Davis once again missed almost half the season with yet another injury. There are numerous things fans can point to that led to collapse of the Lakers this season.
