In his prime, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was (is?) as close as you can come to an unstoppable force in the NBA. Very few succeeded in trying to contain the four-time NBA champ. One of them happens to be Lance Stephenson, who for his part, earned the title of being the “LeBron stopper” during his heydey.

Stephenson, who is currently a member of the NBA G League's Grand Rapid Gold, recently opened up about his days as a thorn in LeBron's side. The former Indiana Pacers star also shared his secret as to how he succeeded (somewhat) in holding down the great LeBron James:

“It was a great challenge,” Stephenson said, via Jack Green of betway insider. “My teammates said: ‘Pick up on him, don't let him get nothing easy, we're gonna have your back.’ And I knew from the jump that they weren’t just gonna have me playing one-on-one with him.

“That's what helped me a lot because I knew if I pressured him, I knew four other guys were gonna be there for me, be held accountable and have my back all the time.”

There you have it. As it turns out, the secret to stopping LeBron James all boils down to teamwork. Of course, this is easier said than done, and Stephenson himself would attest to this notion.

Stephenson also said in his interview that it's his dream to win a ring before he retires. He's now with the G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets, so he could be closing in on his goal. It is also worth noting that Stephenson was once teammates with LeBron James as well, so who knows, maybe a sensational return to the Lakers could be in the books for the infamous “LeBron stopper.”
