Frank Vogel is excited to be the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most storied franchises in all of sports.

During his introductory press conference on Monday, Vogel said it's “pretty cool” to be the new man in charge of the Lakers.

Vogel has coached the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic. He has a career coaching record of 304-291 in the regular season and 31-30 in the playoffs.

Vogel’s Pacers teams had a lot of battles with Lakers superstar LeBron James when The King was on the Miami Heat from 2010-2014. Los Angeles is hoping Vogel can lead the team back to the postseason. The Purple and Gold haven't made the playoffs since 2013.

Vogel is a defensive-minded coach. His Pacers teams always had one of the best defenses in the NBA. NBA Hall of Famer and former Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd will be Vogel's lead assistant. Together, the two men will be tasked with trying to get the best out of James and the rest of the players on the roster.

Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, James and Josh Hart are the core players on the Lakers at the moment. Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee and Reggie Bullock are all unrestricted free agents this summer.
