The Los Angeles Lakers haven't seen a significant amount of success for half a decade. They are one of the worst teams in the league and have missed the playoffs for five straight years. Despite that fact, team owner Jeanie Buss isn't planning to sell the franchise.

according to her interview with Zach Lowe.

“There’s no reason for us to ever sell the Lakers,” Jeanie Buss told Zach Lowe in the Lowe Post podcast.

“The asset is held in a trust, which is the Lakers stock, and I’m the person in charge of overseeing that — the running of the asset. And then there’s beneficiaries, which are all my siblings. So we are all the beneficiaries of this.”

The Buss family has owned the franchise for 40 years, and although they have struggled to build a competitive team over the past few seasons, Jeanie has publicly stated on multiple occasions in the past that she's determined to turn things around for the franchise.

The signing of superstar LeBron James last summer is the first step, and with an ample amount of cap space heading into next season's free agency, the Lakers can go after another superstar like Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard or Kyrie Irving.

The team also has a set of young prospects that they believe can be part of the franchise's long-term future. Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma are the team's prized youngsters, and the Lakers are hoping for them to carry the franchise once LeBron retires.

The Lakers are going the right direction, and there's really no need for Jeanie to panic about the franchise's future. Her father, Dr. Jerry Buss has made the franchise as the most successful and prominent team in the history of basketball, and she plans to continue that legacy.
