Lakers fans understood why he did it. But for safe measures, Hart clarified his intentions via Twitter. He said that he simply doesn't wear his competitor's kicks:

While the clip showed that he dumped the shoes into a trash bin, Hart actually gave the shoes to one of his assistants who wore the same size:

Ever since George left the Indiana Pacers, rumors involving him and the Lakers started circulating. After all, George was born and raised in California, and he has expressed his desire to play for the purple and gold before. Many believed that his stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder will be short-lived.

And over the summer, he was spotted with Hart hanging out at a Fortnite tourney which led to speculation that George was about the sign with the Lakers. But as we all know by now, George signed a max deal worth $137 million for four years with the Thunder.

Lakers fans were understandably disappointed. They had a chance to land one of the best all-around players today. But for Hart, there are no hard feelings. It's just the way of the sport.
