Los Angeles Lakers guard Josh Hart had an anti-analytics rant in a recent episode of Gilbert Arenas' “No Chill Podcast,” which was highlighted by the sentence “You telling me that this dude that’s 45 that never played, doesn’t have an athletic bone in his body, gonna tell me how to play basketball?”

On paper, this didn't look and sound good for Hart, as people immediately tied it to him not liking the new Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, who is, well, 45 years old and uses analytics as a major part of his coaching approach.

Hart denied these allegations in an episode of The Eavesdrop Podcast, where he said that he and Vogel have a great relationship.

“There was stuff I had said about analytics or whatever, and they tried to tie that into my new coach (Frank Vogel). I’m sitting there like ‘yo, what?’ I’ve had several conversations (with him). Me and him have a great relationship. Don’t try to sit here and take that out of context and take it as I’m taking a shot at my coach. I like my coach. We’ve had conversations, I love the plan that he has built for the team.”

Vogel was hired by the Lakers last month, replacing former head coach Luke Walton. The veteran coach said he's already established a good working relationship with superstar LeBron James and plans to do the same with the rest of the team's players.

As for Hart, whether he's taking shots at Vogel or not, the bottomline is he wants to have a larger role for the Lakers next season. He was relegated as a spot-up shooter this past season despite all his work to improve his game last summer. This didn't sit well with the second-year guard and he hopes that things will change for the better next season.
