The duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal would go on to be one of the most dominant pairings in NBA history. In the seven seasons they played together for the Los Angeles Lakers, this All-Star tandem resulted in three championships for the Purple and Gold and a well-loved era of basketball in the City of Angels. And while both of these guys are top draws in the hobby, it's a card they both signed that's making noise in the market recently.

In a recent auction by PWCC, a 2012-13 Panini National Treasures Champions Signatures Combos dual auto card of Bryant and O'Neal sold for $16,800. This piece of memorabilia, which is encased inside a BGS 8.5 slab, is now considered as the most expensive card that features the legendary Lakers duo.

The card itself features a clean and pristine design that emphasizes the profiles of both Bryant and O'Neal. The late Black Mamba's signature can be seen at the bottom part of the card while Shaq's stickered-auto is right on top. Furthermore, this Shaq and Kobe Bryant card is the last one in a print run of 15 copies during the year it was released.

Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Lakers

During the Lakers' three-peat from 1999-2002, O'Neal was averaging 28.6 points on 57% shooting from the field, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. For his part, the late Kobe Bryant put up averages of 25.4 points on 46% shooting efficiency from the field, 5.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. When put together, these numbers formed the core of Los Angeles' run towards three straight championships during the given period.

Those in the hobby who have lived through this era of Lakers basketball know how great these two were. With the recent sale of this graded basketball card in the market at a record price, there's no more proof needed for collectors not to be in awe of this Shaq-Kobe piece of memorabilia.
