Kristaps Porzingis will probably have a hard time sleeping after the Dallas Mavericks lost a close one to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night, 107-104.

The game looked to be heading into another overtime but Lakers rookie Austin Reaves made the biggest shot of his NBA career, sinking the game-winning three-pointer.

It was extra frustrating for Porzingis who had another strong double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, taking the cudgels anew from injured Mavericks star Luka Doncic. After the bitter defeat to the Lakers, Porzingis had a blunt reaction (via ESPN).

“Man, it sucks.”

After gathering his thoughts, the Mavericks big man had a few more words.

“Oh, my god. We should have got this one.”

The Mavericks have largely struggled to find any rhythm in their first season under coach Jason Kidd. The injury of Doncic, who's expected to miss more games, has only compounded their worries. While Porzingis has been fantastic as of late, it's clear they're in dire need of more firepower.

After the loss to the Lakers, the Mavericks dropped to 14-14 and are now 2-7 without Doncic.

The Lakers, on the other hand, have found momentum recently, winning four of their last five outings to improve to 16-13. Led by Western Conference Player of the Week LeBron James, it seems the Lakers are looking more comfortable each game.

Both the Lakers and Mavericks have the Minnesota Timberwolves as their next assignment on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
