Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers represented his team at the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery. While there, he was looking rather fresh with a glistening new tan as well as a sharp-looking purple jacket.

Whatever Kuzma did, it worked out well for the Lakers, who were one of the big winners on the night. Though the New Orleans Pelicans won the lottery, the Lakers moved up seven spots from the 11th-best odds to No. 4 overall – a thrilling feat for the Lake Show.

Kuzma succinctly displayed his gratitude for the thanks he must be getting from the Lakers’ fanbase with a simple Tweet:

Of course, it seems rather likely that this pick will never actually be made by the Lakers and will instead be traded to acquire a player that can help the team win now while LeBron James is ready to make a run with the team sooner rather than later.

Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka’s statement about the No. 4 overall pick as a “powerful asset” certainly makes it sound like that pick will not be long for the Lakers’ coffers, and the team’s continued attraction to Anthony Davis means that a deal to try and acquire the Pelicans superstar will surely be in the works as soon as possible.

This offseason is going to be wild, but one thing is certain. Kyle Kuzma was already one of the more beloved players on the Lakers, and now that he helped the team pull off a draft lottery miracle, he will be even more of a folk hero.
