The Los Angeles Lakers have officially announced the contract extension of head coach Frank Vogel. However, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka confirmed the decision in a press release, which highlighted Vogel's accomplishments since taking over the team.

Frank Vogel took over the reins as Lakers head coach in 2019 after the team parted ways with Luke Walton. The veteran bench boss quickly established a defensive identity for the Purple and Gold, making them a threat on both ends of the floor with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way.

The 48-year-old then guided the team to their 17th championship title in the pandemic-stricken 2019-20 season, taking home the championship in the Bubble Playoffs. Vogel has been largely credited for navigating the situation, managing his players well and making sure they stayed healthy amid all the injuries and protocols that were put in place.

While they struggled mightily in 2020-21, primarily because of their short offseason, the Lakers still managed to make the playoffs via the play-in tournament. Overall, Vogel has compiled a 94-49 regular season record with the LA franchise.

With his head coaching position taken care of for the next few years, Vogel can now focus at the bigger task at hand: bringing the Lakers back to the promised land. With Russell Westbrook in tow and a slew of veteran players, the challenge now for the head coach is finding the right formula to utilize all the players he has.
