Los Angeles Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope left Game 3 on Thursday evening with a quad contusion, but it appears the injury might not be as serious as initially thought.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, KCP's MRI came back negative, which is definitely good news for the Lakers:

KCP collided with Devin Booker late in the third quarter and immediately went down in pain. The Lakers veteran eventually made his way to the locker room and was clearly upset.

While LA went to work on the Suns at the Staples Center in a 109-95 win, Caldwell-Pope has been a key piece of their defense in the series so far. He's done a great job limiting Phoenix's offensive production despite lacking a scoring flair of his own right now. He's shooting a dismal 4 for 14 from the field in the playoffs.

It's unknown how long he could be out of the Lakers lineup at this point, but the MRI coming back clean is a good sign. Expect Wesley Matthews to likely get more minutes in the backcourt for the time being, while Talen Horton-Tucker and Ben McLemore could also see increased roles.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon as the Lakers look to take a 3-1 lead with the depleted Suns still missing a fully healthy Chris Paul.
