It has been almost two weeks since the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, Gianna, and seven others in a horrific helicopter accident. The NBA and the rest of the basketball world have mourned the loss of this Los Angeles Lakers superstar with a lot of heavy hearts still trying to come to grips with the fact that he's no longer with us.

According to the LA Times, the city of Los Angeles will soon hold a public memorial at the Staples Center for Bryant and those that lost their lives in the accident back on Jan. 26. later this month.

Following the tragic accident, fans of the fallen NBA icon flocked to the Staples Center and L.A. Live to pay their respects to the five-time NBA champion. Flowers, candles, basketballs, shoes, jerseys, and many other items to commemorate Kobe's life were placed in multiple areas around the Staples Center. It was a touching tribute to one of the greatest basketball players and inspirational figures in history after an unthinkable tragedy.

Now fans and anyone that was impacted by the life and accomplishments of Kobe can say goodbye to the Lakers legend one last time in a public forum. It's bound to be another emotional day for the people of Los Angeles as the families affected by this accident.

The Lakers will host the Boston Celtics the night before the public memorial for Kobe on Sun. Feb. 23 and will take on the New Orleans Pelicans the night after on Tues. Feb. 25.
