Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has clarified his statement on the Daryl Morey-China controversy.

LeBron was on the receiving end of a Twitterstorm after saying that the Houston Rockets manager was “misinformed and not educated” on the whole China-Hong Kong situation. Plenty of fans expressed their disappointment on LeBron for seemingly choosing a side amid all the issue.

James, however, took it to Twitter to clarify his statement. The Lakers superstar emphasized that he is not questioning Morey's stand on the matter, but what he deems as lack of consideration.

Referring to Morey's pro-Hong Kong tweet, James does not believe “there was any consideration for the consequences and ramifications” of it.

The four-time MVP added how a single tweet can make a big impact, noting that Morey could've waited a week before sending it out.

To recall, LeBron and the Lakers had back-to-back preseason games in China against the Brooklyn Nets — an event that has been threatened to be cancelled multiple times due to the controversy.

Morey's since-deleted tweet featured an image that read: “Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong.” Chinese fans lashed on Morey and the Rockets, while Chinese businesses have decided to pull out on their sponsorship deals with the team.

Only a few NBA players and coaches have chimed in on the Morey-China controversy. Some have chosen to remain neutral on their stance. Some are in support of freedom of expression but were careful with their words.
