Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James reached another milestone on Sunday night, notching his 9,000th career assist in the team's 108-95 win against the Dallas Mavericks.

LeBron only finished with 13 points in the win, but he found a way to remain effective on the floor, as he constantly dished it out to teammates who had open looks. Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are some of the Laker players who benefited from James' 13-assist night.

After the game, LeBron explained why passing the ball has been an important part of his game, per Ben Golliver of the Washington Post.

“When I was a little kid I was somewhat better than some of my teammates. [My coach] said it’s a much greater reward for you to get your teammates who can’t dribble or score for themselves an open look.”

With his recent milestone, LeBron is now the only player in NBA history with at least 30,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, and 9,000 assists. He continues to play at a high level despite being in the league for 17 years. And he's not done breaking records just yet.

Although LeBron is known to be a pass-first player, he is also bound to hit another scoring milestone this season. James only needs 297 points to pass Laker legend Kobe Bryant for the third spot in the NBA's all-time scoring list.

But while LeBron is grateful for every individual accolade he achieves, he is still laser-focused on the Lakers' primary goal, and that is to win a championship this season.
