Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has authored a new children's book.

James, who signed a deal with HarperCollins Children's Books in 2020, is co-authoring a book called “We Are Family.” The book, set to release on August 31, chronicles five friends who work together to achieve their basketball dreams.

The book is set in Ohio, James' home state. LeBron said the message is meant to emphasize how “an unlikely group of kids comes together to chase their dreams, despite having the odds stacked against them,” per TMZ. He also said he hopes the project serves as inspiration to those who read it:

“It’s an important story of family, purpose and perseverance in the face of adversity that I hope inspires everyone who reads it to never stop dreaming and believing in what they’re capable of,” LeBron James said, per TMZ.

Writer and journalist Andrea Williams is James' co-author.

“We Are Family” will be LeBron's second book release following last summer's 40-page picture book entitled “I Promise.” The latter made it onto the New York Times bestseller list.

It is shaping up to be a good summer James, who is also the star of the upcoming film Space Jam: A New Legacy. Will that summer be made better by a second straight NBA championship?

The 36-year-old has not played since suffering a high ankle sprain last month. LeBron James is nearing a return, though the Lakers have yet to set a date.

He would surely love to add another championship ring to his trophy case. But the King has always been equally intent on making an impact off the floor. James hopes his upcoming project will resonate with youths from all different backgrounds.
