After a four year wait, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is once again an NBA champion, which means that The King will get to add another championship ring to his collection.

James, who won his fourth title and Finals MVP with the Lakers last season, will receive his fourth championship ring when the Lakers face the Los Angeles Clippers in their regular-season opener on Tuesday night.

James couldn’t hide his excitement at the Lakers’ Ring Night, although he lamented the fact that his family, friends, and fans won’t be there to witness the players receive rings and raise another banner on the Staples Center rafters due to restrictions brought by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The four-time MVP, who turns 36 later this month, mentioned that he couldn’t believe that he was ringing it up again, and for good reason. In his first season in Los Angeles, a groin injury limited James to just 55 games during the season as the Lakers stumbled to a 37-45 record as the former first overall pick missed the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

In his second year in Purple and Gold, the team traded its young core to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans, and the result was an almost seamless transition into the league’s best duo.

In their first year together, James and Davis led the Lakers to a 52-19 record, eventually giving the team its first title in a decade. James averaged 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, a league-leading 10.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 49.3% from the field and 34.8% from beyond the arc in his season second season with the Lakers.

And with the front office trading for and signing players like Dennis Schroder, Wesley Matthews, Montrezl Harrell, and Marc Gasol in the offseason, James should also feel good about his chances about adding a fifth ring to his collection.
