The Los Angeles Lakers just can't seem to catch a break as they have now placed veteran Rajon Rondo into the Covid-19 health and safety protocols.

This is unfortunate news for the Lakers because Russell Westbrook has not been playing great basketball as of late and Los Angeles could have desperately used Rondo's help as a backup point guard. This comes a day after the Lakers fell to the Brooklyn Nets on Christmas as they are now 16-18 on the season and have been playing way below what many people expected them to this season.

It's not an enormous loss for this Lakers team, but with how bad Westbrook has looked as of late, Rondo could have used some extra minutes and could have maybe given a spark to this team.

The Lakers have some serious issues that they're going to need to figure out and that's not going to be solved by having Rondo on the court. There are clearly areas that this team needs to improve on and that's all going to start with Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis playing better because LeBron James is the only one of the three who has been playing to the standard that he is expected to.

The Lakers need to figure it out and they need to figure it out soon, or they're going to find themselves in a tough spot to even make the playoffs at this point. They will take on the Houston Rockets next Tuesday in a game that they should be able to walk away with a win. LeBron James is going to need to do his usual thing for them to win against a below-average Rockets team.
