Lakers superstar LeBron James paid tribute to Kobe and Gianna Bryant on Monday afternoon with a touching message on his Instagram account.

James' post was brief, yet to the point. LeBron noted the numbers 2 and 24, which are not only the digits of today's date, but also the same numbers that Kobe and Gianna wore while playing.

Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash outside Los Angeles last month. Sadly, all nine passengers on the flight, including his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, perished in the tragic accident. Several reports have since indicated that the group was on its way to the Mamba Sports Academy, where Kobe was to serve as a coach for his daughter's basketball team.

Mourning fans set up a makeshift memorial outside the Staples Center shortly after news of Bryant's passing was made public. Many of these fans stayed for days, leaving flowers, notes and various Lakers memorabilia.

According to a report from ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, more than 80 murals of Bryant have sprung up in and around the Los Angeles area since Bryant's passing. And in The Philippines, fans painted a mural of Kobe embracing Gianna on an outdoor court in Manila.

A celebration of Kobe's life was held inside the Staples Center on Monday afternoon. Several notable figures, including Bryant's wife, spoke at the event. Beyonce opened the live broadcast with a powerful performance.
