Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been very active in expressing his thoughts following the tragic death of George Floyd, who was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis last week.

Well-known for making his views on social injustice known, James has taken to Twitter to post his thoughts on various topics in recent days.

Most recently, he was delighted to see “Black Lives Matter” painted along a street near the White House:

The officer who killed Floyd has been charged with second-degree murder.

James is just one of many athletes from many different races, ethnicities and backgrounds who have spoken out following the death of Floyd. A number of NBA players have joined in on protests throughout the country, and while LeBron hasn't done that, he has been very vocal on social media.

The 35-year-old Lakers star was also particularly vocal against New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who recently reiterated his stance about not being okay with kneeling during the national anthem.

Back in 2016, Brees made it clear that he did not agree with Colin Kaepernick's method of creating awareness for social injustice, as the then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback decided to kneel when the anthem was played before NFL games.

Brees was asked about his stance again earlier this week, and he once again said that it was disrespectful to the American flag and those who have served the country.

James ripped Brees on Twitter, saying that the intent of kneeling was never to disrespect the flag or the troops. He also tore into FOX News host Laura Ingraham, who once told James to “shut up and dribble,” for saying that Brees had the right to an opinion.

The NBA campaign may be returning in late July, so we'll get to see James back on the court with the Lakers again very soon. For now, he is fighting for justice.
