Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James expressed his strong support to England international players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, who have been the recipients of a wave of racial abuse over their performance in the Euro 2o2o final.

England lost to Italy on penalties (3-2) during Sunday's contest at Wembley, with Rashford, Sancho and Saka all missing their attempts. Sancho and Saka's shots were both denied by Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Rashford hit the post in a rather frustrating turn for the Three Lions.

Unfortunately, the disappointing result led to massive criticisms from English football fans and the three have been on the receiving end of those attacks. In Saka's Instagram alone, his comments section were filled with disgusting remarks from angry fans who blame him for the loss.

Sure enough, LeBron James is not one to sit down and take a step back when it comes to issues of racial abuse, which is why he made sure to speak out on the matter. On his Instagram stories, the Lakers forward shared the post made by the Uninterrupted condemning the hate attacks on the three England players.

Furthermore, while he didn't make any comment or statement, the Lakers superstar simply used emojis to show that he is praying and in full support of the three.

For what it's worth, it has been revealed that British police have opened investigations on the racist abuse and attacks made to Rashford, Sancho and Saka. The English Football Association also condemned the incident and vowed to give the “toughest punishments” to all those responsible.

“We will do all we can to support the players affected while urging the toughest punishments possible for anyone responsible,” the FA said. “We will continue to do everything we can to stamp discrimination out of the game, but we implore government to act quickly and bring in the appropriate legislation so this abuse has real life consequences.”

Indeed, while it is good to have passionate fans, there is simply no room for abuse and hatred in sports. It is supposed to unite people and nations–not divide. Hopefully, justice will be served so as such inappropriate acts won't be imitated by others.
