Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James had some time to catch the UFC 246 main event bout between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone on Saturday after his team made minced meat of the Houston Rockets, 124-115, at the Toyota Center.

McGregor, a former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion, needed just 40 seconds to finish Cerrone in their Welterweight bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shortly after the rather quick and anticlimactic match, “The King” took to Twitter to congratulate “The Notorious” for his triumphant return to the Octagon.

After taking the whole MMA world by storm by upon his arrival to the UFC in 2013, McGregor gained global recognition when he figured in one of the biggest crossover matches against undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in August 2017. The Irishman did end up losing the bout, but he still cemented himself as one of the biggest and most recognizable sports figures of this generation.

In the build-up to his fight with Cowboy, Conor McGregor credited LeBron James for his ability to compete at a high level for so many years. Conor also said he learned to invest and spend on his health from James, who reportedly spends millions in the offseason to keep himself in tip-top shape.

James, on the other hand, certainly appreciates greatness when he sees it, regardless of sport.

The 35-year-old superstar and four-time NBA MVP towed the Lakers to victory on Saturday and handed the Rockets their third consecutive defeat.

With fellow Lakers superstar Anthony Davis still sidelined due to a tailbone injury, James carried the load and finished with 31 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
