Unless you've been living under a rock, you know the Los Angeles Lakers' 2020-21 season is officially over. With the offseason looming, fans have been in a frenzy in trying to figure out what moves Rob Pelinka and the rest of the LA front office can make to make another run at a title next season.

But if you ask LeBron James, the actual offseason moves are just secondary. The Lakers star emphasized what should truly be at the very top of the list of priorities during their earlier-than-expected break from the action:

“I trust Rob, I trust Kurt [Rambis], trust everyone upstairs that does their diligence and our coaching staff and things of that nature. Obviously number one thing for us is getting AD healthy. That’s number one. It doesn’t matter what changes we make. We got to get big fella healthy and needs back to where he was before the injury.”

NBA Twitter is just filled with rumblings about what the Lakers should do next, which players they should re-sign, and the stars they must target *cough* Damian Lillard *cough*. But LeBron James hits the nail on the head in this one. Nothing matters if their stars aren't healthy enough to take the court and build chemistry with the pieces that they actually bring.

“Get my ankle back right which I.. a thousand percent I already know that I’ll be 100 percent as far as my ankle when the season starts in October and then go from there,” James said, “That put us in best possible chance to be successful next year. But like I said, Rob will do his due diligence and construct this team to where it needs to be to compete for a championship once again.”

Barring an unexpected blockbuster trade, the Lakers' offseason moves are expected to merely help around the edges in support of their two pillars – LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They need to do all they can to make sure their foundation won't break down before looking to build anything further.
