Andre Ingram's time in the NBA has come to a close once again – for now, at least. According to Bill Oram of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers will not sign the well-traveled sharpshooter to a second 10-day contract, ending his second stint with the team.
Ingram rose to national prominence last April, when the decade-long veteran of the G-League was called up to the Lakers to close out the regular season.
He scored 19 points, grabbed three rebounds, and blocked three shots on 6-of-8 shooting, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, in his first game wearing forum blue and gold, bringing an adoring Staples Center crowd to its feet and capturing the imagination of basketball fans across the country.
The 33 year old signed a 10-day contract with the Lakers on March 11th. He appeared sparingly in four games with the team, going scoreless in every contest and failing to notch more than six minutes of playing time despite Los Angeles suffering a spate of injuries and falling out of the playoff race earlier this month.
Before his second NBA go-around began, Ingram told Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times that he would be grateful for another opportunity in the league even if it didn't prove as fruitful as his first.
“Whether it’s four seconds or four minutes, doesn’t matter,” he said. “To be valued means something to me. To be out there on the court means something to me. I’m thankful for every second.”
According to Michael Scotto of The Athletic, Los Angeles used the roster spot vacated by Ingram to sign guard Scott Machado, another G-League veteran, to a 10-day contract of his own.
