Luke Walton is still just a kid at least compared to some of the other coaches in the league. Walton is ecstatic about the opportunity to coach LeBron James and almost sounds like a kid coming down the stairs on Christmas morning. Walton told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN win or lose getting to be apart of this experience is going to be fun.

“It's gonna be completely nuts, but it's also gonna be awesome,” Walton said. “The whole city's gonna be behind us. We're gonna be on SportsCenter every night. If we lose, it's gonna be the end of the world. If we win, it's gonna be wild. But no matter what, it's gonna be fun.”

Walton also admitted that he has done a lot of thinking about the idea, but now that it is actually happening, it feels good to have the best player in the world.

“I sat under the stars and said to myself, ‘Damn, we got LeBron James on our team,'” he said. “‘The best player in the world is a Laker.'”

One thing that is unclear is just how much Walton will be able to coach LeBron. When Tyronn Lue and James were together, it was always the running joke that Lue was just one of James assistant. Does James respect Walton enough to let him run the team or will it be the same story as when James was on the Cavs? Either way, Walton is right, this team is going to be on SportsCenter every night and everything they do is going to be analyzed.
