That's okay, let it out. It has been nearly seven months, but the world is still feeling the effects of Kobe Bryant's untimely passing on Jan. 26, 2020. The five-time NBA champion died in a tragic helicopter crash along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other people in the hills of Calabasas, California.

Nike is pulling out all the stops to honor the legacy of one of the greatest and most inspirational basketball players of all time.

Aug. 23, 2020 would have been Kobe Bryant's 42nd birthday. Likewise, this day marks the beginning of what Nike officially dubbed as “Mamba Week.” Aug. 24 (8/24), is officially known as “Mamba Day” in honor of the two jersey numbers he wore in his legendary basketball career.

Nike will also release a new colorway of Bryant's Kobe V Protro signature sneakers. This marks the first time that the sneaker giant will release Mamba merchandise since his passing.

Likewise, Nike will also drop a special Black Mamba edition of the Lakers’ jerseys. The Lakers will reportedly sport said jerseys for Game 4 of their first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers. Los Angeles holds a 2-1 series lead after winning Game 3 on Saturday night. The Lakers legend will surely be on everyone's mind during Game 4.

Nike will also reportedly donate $1 million to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation and pledge to support the Mamba League.

Happy birthday, Kobe Bryant. We miss you so much.
