NBA Draft hopeful LiAngelo Ball held a private workout with the Los Angeles Lakers today and things did not look anywhere near promising.

According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, there was “pessimism in the extreme” after the rookie Lonzo Ball's younger brother tried out in front of scouts and team executives.

The Lakers are unlikely to have any intentions of drafting him, either for their team or even a stint in the G League.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne noted one particular observer said Ball “tried hard,” to say the least throughout a well-chronicled workout with the purple-and-gold.

As expected by many NBA scouts and executives, Ball is not remotely in the radar for any NBA teams, having shown next to nothing at a competitive level after being yanked out of UCLA early in the college season and playing pro ball in Lithuania, mostly deemed as exhibitions.

Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports put it rather simply:

“The Lakers front office will meet today to discuss the latest workouts and prospects, but I don’t expect to ever see LiAngelo in purple and gold.”

Ball took part in the IMG Combine in Florida earlier this month, but had rather unimpressive measurables, standing at 6-foot-5 with only a 36.5-inch vertical and a below-average all-around game, as some scouts saw him as rather “too unathletic” for the NBA game and out of shape in comparison to other prospects.

Ball is expected to have workouts with the Golden State Warriors later this month, but barring a drastic change, it's unlikely the defending champions would show any signs of interest.
